What Does the SAT Measure?
"The SAT does not measure your ability to think, reason, or your inherent intelligence.
The SAT does not measure your ability to perform in college. The only thing that the
SAT can assess is how well you can take the SAT. But, your ability to "beat" the SAT
shows a level of inventiveness, persistence, and concentration, which are all surely
useful skills in life and academic settings" - Ivan Batishchev

Why Does the SAT Seem So Difficult?
What makes the SAT seem like a difficult test is that you are not familiar with the unique format of the test. The College Board presents questions and problems in unfamiliar and confusing ways. Knowing exactly what to do in all the sections of the test will minimize the unfamiliarity and confusion. SAT preparation will allow you to work through questions and problems with a confident and focused mind.
